Using SOhS means accepting these terms
Society Of homoSapiens, also called SOhS, is a website-first public knowledge platform for articles, human questions, moral dilemmas, corrections, and community submissions. By accessing the website, creating an account, submitting content, or using interactive features, you agree to follow these terms, the guidelines, the privacy policy, the correction policy, and any page-specific rules shown on the site.
If you do not agree with these terms, do not use account features or submit content to SOhS.
Platform purpose
SOhS exists to help people think clearly, discuss respectfully, and act humanly. The platform is designed for public-interest knowledge, ethical reflection, sincere questions, and civil disagreement.
SOhS is not a social network for personal attacks, propaganda, harassment, spam, or unverified claims presented as fact.
No professional advice
SOhS content is for public education and civic reflection. It is not legal, medical, financial, psychological, political, or professional advice. You are responsible for how you interpret and use the information on the site.
SOhS Mobile app
SOhS Mobile is an anonymous daily-question companion to the website. App votes are intended for one vote per question per app install or device and may be shown as aggregate percentages or country-level summaries.
Do not attempt to manipulate vote counts, bypass duplicate-vote controls, automate voting, or misrepresent shared result cards. Website discussion links, privacy rules, correction processes, and these terms also apply when the app opens SOhS web pages.
Accounts and authentication
Your account
You are responsible for the email address and login method used with your SOhS account. Do not share access in a way that allows misuse.
Accurate use
Do not impersonate another person, misrepresent affiliation, or create accounts to evade moderation.
Access limits
SOhS may restrict, suspend, or remove account access when needed to protect the platform, users, or legal obligations.
User submissions
User submissions may include topic requests, article opinions, question answers, dilemma reflections, reports, correction suggestions, and related text entered into SOhS.
You keep ownership of content you submit, but you grant SOhS a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, review, moderate, display, excerpt, format, and distribute your submission as needed to operate, improve, archive, and promote the platform. This license is limited to SOhS platform purposes and does not transfer ownership of your content to SOhS.
You are responsible for making sure your submissions are lawful, truthful to the best of your knowledge, relevant, and respectful of other people's rights, privacy, and safety.
Allowed use
- Respectful disagreement and good-faith debate.
- Sourced claims and correction suggestions.
- Sincere questions, ethical reflection, and personal experience clearly marked.
- Submitting topic ideas for editorial or community review.
- Reporting content that may violate SOhS rules.
Prohibited use
- Hate speech, threats, harassment, dehumanizing language, or personal attacks.
- Spam, scams, malware, scraping abuse, or attempts to disrupt the site.
- Political propaganda, fake claims without source, or coordinated manipulation.
- NSFW content, exploitation, graphic shock content, or unsafe instructions.
- Copyright infringement, privacy violations, doxxing, or impersonation.
Moderation and review
SOhS may use automated checks, human moderation, reports, and admin review to evaluate submissions. User-generated content may be held pending, approved, rejected, flagged, hidden, edited for formatting, or removed if it violates policy or creates risk.
Moderation decisions are made to protect the platform purpose, public safety, legal compliance, and discussion quality. SOhS is not required to publish every submission.
Submitting content does not guarantee publication, ranking, promotion, payment, or response.
Editorial independence
SOhS may choose which topics, articles, questions, dilemmas, sources, and corrections to publish. Donations, user requests, popularity, or outside pressure do not control editorial conclusions.
Corrections
If you believe SOhS published something incorrect, incomplete, or misleading, use the correction policy process. Good-faith correction requests are welcome. Bad-faith pressure, threats, or unsupported demands are not.
Donations and future payments
Current support pages may describe future donation options. Online payment integration should not be considered active unless a live payment flow, payment processor disclosure, and donation confirmation are clearly shown.
Supporters help keep SOhS alive, but donations do not influence editorial truth. Future payment terms, refunds, recurring billing, taxes, processor rules, and donor privacy details should be added before accepting live payments.
SOhS content and intellectual property
Site design, branding, original articles, editorial structure, code, and SOhS-created materials are owned by SOhS or its respective contributors unless otherwise stated. You may link to public pages and quote short excerpts with attribution, but you may not copy, scrape, republish, sell, or misrepresent SOhS content as your own.
External sources, images, trademarks, and linked material remain the property of their respective owners.
Privacy
Use of SOhS is also governed by the privacy policy. Account data, submissions, moderation metadata, anonymous visitor counting, and future payment data are handled according to that policy.
Third-party services
SOhS may rely on third-party providers for hosting, authentication, email, database, moderation assistance, analytics, payments, or linked sources. Their own terms and privacy practices may apply.
Availability and changes
SOhS may change, pause, remove, or update features, pages, policies, or content at any time. We aim to keep important policy changes clear and visible, but the website is provided as available and may experience downtime, bugs, data delays, or service limits.
Disclaimers and limitation of responsibility
To the extent allowed by applicable law, SOhS is not responsible for losses, damages, or decisions arising from your use of the website, reliance on public content, third-party links, user submissions, service interruptions, or unauthorized misuse of your account.
Nothing in these terms limits rights or responsibilities that cannot legally be limited. Because laws vary by location, these terms should receive qualified legal review before paid services, mobile apps, or larger community features launch.
