Limited, purposeful, and respectful
Society Of homoSapiens, also called SOhS, is a website-first public knowledge platform. We use personal data only when it is needed to run accounts, receive submissions, moderate content, protect the site, respond to requests, and understand basic public usage.
We do not sell personal data. We do not build advertising profiles. We do not use invasive analytics. We do not intentionally store precise location for user submissions.
Information SOhS may collect
Account information
When you sign in, SOhS may store your email-based account identifier, profile display name, role, generation setting if provided, timestamps, and authentication state through the authentication service.
Submitted content
SOhS stores content you submit, such as topic requests, article opinions, question answers, dilemma reflections, reports, correction requests, and related metadata.
Moderation metadata
Submissions may include status, moderator actions, report details, automated safety check results, country-level code, timestamps, and related article, question, or dilemma references.
Technical information
Service providers may process routine technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as request metadata, browser behavior needed for security, error logs, and hosting diagnostics.
SOhS Mobile voting
The SOhS Mobile app stores and sends an anonymous app-generated device UUID, selected vote option, question reference, and country-level code inferred from locale or timezone when available. This supports duplicate-vote prevention, aggregate vote percentages, and country-level result chips.
Submitted content moderation
SOhS may use automated safety checks to help detect hate, threats, spam, NSFW content, harassment, and other policy risks before human review. These checks support moderation; they do not replace human judgment.
SOhS may store a country-level code for logged-in submissions to understand global participation, detect abuse patterns, and improve moderation. SOhS does not store precise location or IP address for this submission metadata purpose.
Anonymous visit counting
SOhS uses privacy-friendly anonymous visit counting to understand whether the public website is being used. It stores a random browser ID in localStorage, the visited path, and a timestamp.
SOhS does not store IP addresses for this feature, does not collect names or emails for visitor counts, and does not expose raw visitor events publicly. Header and footer counts show aggregated totals only.

Local browser storage
SOhS may use browser storage for limited purposes:
- Authentication session persistence after login.
- Anonymous visitor ID for privacy-friendly visit counting.
- Session-level guards to avoid duplicate visit events.
- Visitor-count opt-out preference in this browser.
- In SOhS Mobile, an anonymous app UUID and local per-question vote flags.
Cookies and tracking
SOhS does not currently use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or behavioral ad tracking. Authentication and infrastructure providers may use technical mechanisms needed to keep sessions working and protect the service.
How SOhS uses information
- To provide account login, logout, profile, and admin access features.
- To receive, store, review, moderate, approve, reject, or hide user submissions.
- To show users their own submission history and moderation status.
- To protect SOhS from spam, abuse, security threats, and policy violations.
- To maintain article, question, dilemma, correction, and moderation workflows.
- To understand broad public usage through aggregated visitor counts.
- To count anonymous SOhS Mobile votes and prevent duplicate app votes.
- To respond to emails, correction requests, reports, and support questions.
Service providers
SOhS relies on trusted service providers to operate the website. These providers process data only as needed for their role in the platform.
Hosting and security providers
Hosting, DNS, network delivery, security controls, and deployment operations.
Backend database and authentication provider
Database, authentication, user sessions, profiles, submissions, moderation records, and anonymous SOhS Mobile vote records.
Email delivery and mailbox providers
Transactional authentication email, support inboxes, and domain-related email operations.
Automated safety tooling
Automated safety checks for submitted text when guarded moderation is enabled.
Future payment provider
Payment processing is not live yet. Payment privacy details should be added before launch.
When information may be shared
SOhS may share data with service providers, comply with lawful requests, investigate abuse, enforce policies, protect rights and safety, or handle operational transfers if the project changes ownership or structure.
SOhS does not sell personal data and does not share user submissions with advertisers.
Public visibility
Approved submissions may become visible on public pages. Pending, rejected, hidden, or private moderation records are not intended for public display except where policy, law, or transparency needs require disclosure.
Security
SOhS uses database access controls, admin role checks, server-side guarded submission handling, managed hosting security controls, and limited privileged operational access to protect platform data. No system is perfectly secure, so users should avoid submitting sensitive personal information unless it is necessary.
Retention
SOhS keeps account, submission, moderation, and visitor-count records for as long as needed to operate the platform, preserve accountability, comply with obligations, and protect against abuse. Future versions should add more detailed retention schedules.
Your choices
You may choose not to create an account, not to submit content, disable anonymous visitor counting in this browser, sign out of your account, or contact SOhS to ask about access, correction, deletion, or moderation concerns. SOhS Mobile support and deletion requests can be sent to sohs@societyofhomosapiens.org.
Children and sensitive information
SOhS is not designed for children to submit personal information. Do not submit private health, financial, identity, address, phone, family, workplace, or other sensitive information unless it is clearly necessary and safe to share.
Policy updates and contact
SOhS may update this policy as the platform grows, especially before live payments, mobile apps, expanded analytics, or new account features. Important changes should be kept visible and dated.
